Ecological Landscape in the Cape Floral Kingdom
The landscape design for 68 Jonkershoek House seamlessly integrates architecture with the spectacular Stellenbosch valley setting. Our approach honors the site's ecological significance while creating functional outdoor spaces.
Landscape Features
Native Plant Conservation: We conducted a thorough plant rescue operation before construction, preserving over 80% of significant plant material for reintegration into the new design.
Indigenous Plant Palette: Exclusively featuring Cape Floral Region species, the planting design supports local wildlife while creating a landscape that belongs to its place.
Water-Wise Design: Rainwater harvesting, strategic swales, and retention basins reduce irrigation needs by 65% compared to conventional gardens of similar size.
Seamless Transitions: The design creates gradual shifts from architectural spaces to wild landscape, blurring boundaries between human and natural environments.
